I imagine the Vodafone head office was a tense place to work yesterday. With some of the most extortionate iPhone pricing in the world announced, and an impending interview on Campbell Live, who would draw the short straw? Who would have to face John Campbell and be torn to shreds on television for the overpriced plans?
It was Mark Rushworth who drew the short straw. He turned up to Campbell Live with a grim face, a clenched jaw, like a soldier marching to war; determined to do his duty, hoping but not expecting to survive.
To his credit, he stuck to his guns. Even after being smashed half to death with the hammer of logic, he held on.
“Plans from $50,” he’d say, “it’s a great deal,” he’d say. And say again. Not mentioning that to get a $50/month deal you need to spend almost a grand on the phone itself.
I’ve never been a John Campbell fan, but last night he tore Vodafone apart. It was beautiful to watch.
“Its a great phone and a great deal.”
“Yes its a great phone and a great deal, except when you compare it to any other country in the world.”
Ouch.
See it at TV3 on demand.
Even overseas they’re taking notice.

JC for Prime minister! These prices are a joke Vodafone. I almost wish I didn’t make the switch to Vodafone now.
I was about to switch just to get an iPhone. Thank god I didn’t switch before these prices were announced.
