The Otago University Students’ Classics Society will be holding a Halo 3 Tournament in Dunedin this weekend as a fundraiser for their upcoming Ball. The bad news is that registrations are pretty much closed, with 70 registrants expected to take part. The good news is that you’ll still be able to come along and watch the best (and those who think they are the best) compete for a prize pool worth over $1000. Yes – over $1000!

There will be 2 playing pools – legendary and casual, and while all places are currently reserved, you may want to contact the organiser to register your interest in a late place if someone doesn’t show up on the day. Your man is Charlie, and he can be contacted on

The tournament is going to be held at Pop Fiction, the cool comic book store located on Hanover Street opposite the Meridian (near everyone’s favourite karaoke bar, Vivace), on Saturday April 4, and Sunday April 5, from 10am to 10pm (although things may finish up much earlier on Sunday). Everyone is welcome to come along to watch, with entry being via a gold coin donation to the guys. Food and drink will be on sale all day, and there will also be additional consoles for casual gaming on the day.

Kudos to the sponsors for making the event possible: EB Games, Excess Energy Drink, Pop Fiction, and KFC. See you there on Saturday!
