Sometimes when you’re playing with a bunch of random people, you occasionally find a rare gem of good behaviour in amongst the wookies that refuse to go anywhere but Sniper Hill, and vehicle hoarders that won’t drive out of your teams deployment. This helicopter pilot surprised me by taking us on a low path to sneak up on a mobile AA that we’d been flirting with, and the result was explosive.
Next gen Battlefield 4 is in full swing, and there’s plenty of ‘early day Battlefield moments’ going on, and the net code is coming under a fair bit of criticism. Mainly because it seems to generate weird situations where you get shot well after finding your way into cover. Normally I wouldn’t find that worthy of a clip itself, but thankfully there’s a double kill snipe and a dangerous supply crate.
Battlefield 4 on next gen consoles is finally on, but I didn’t capture any footage of downloading the game or fiddling around with port forwarding to make sure I had an open NAT again, which ended up taking the better part of the day (the other part taken up by waiting for the courier). So instead, here’s one of the few legitimate stealth jet dogfights I won on the old gen Battlefield 4.
It’s still Friday some places in the world! I dropped my laptop and started drinking immediately after I got home, and promptly forgot about posting anything, but I do have a good clip from Battlefield 4, where I dropped down my trusty EOD Bot at an objective without any real purpose, only to find it quite fortuitous later!
GTAV might have finally done its dash now that Battlefield 4 is out, but I’ve got at least one more clip to share. This one’s stretching the definition of “bite” a bit, but it’s worth watching for the one vs. many desperate defence, and for a part near the end where a runner hits a jump and nearly takes my wing off.
GTA Online continues to stride forward with long legs, and this clip comes from one of the many, many race tracks/modes. It’s a race in fighter jets, and to fully appreciate the video, you have to understand the context that we were all playing this mode for the first time, and under the impression that there was no option for “weapons on”, when in reality, there’s no option for them to be off.
Unsurprisingly, more GTAV, or GTAO, which has been referred to as “Generally Terrible Assholes Online”. Of course, even when playing with friends, things can go bad. Sometimes, you’ll arrive to pick a friend up in a chopper, and he’ll throw sticky bombs and blow you up, just, y’know, because. Perhaps like in the below clip, you see a friend swimming in the ocean, and fly over and try to pick him up by flying really low. Sadly, even though your chopper is literally dipping in the ocean, he can’t get in, so he gives up and swims away. Undeterred, you fly over and insist the he tries again. You push the limits of good sense by dropping the chopper even lower. Then you go entirely too low, and things go horribly wrong. The chopper’s spinning blades mix with the sea to briefly become the worlds biggest blender, and your friend gets torn to shreds in the moments just before the chopper blades are torn from the rotor. Not through any kind of mercy, the game has let you survive; to tread water in the sea to contemplate your hubris. RIP DoubleMantis.
