E3

Buttonmasher has arrived!

We’ll be here all week in sunny Los Angeles, trying to sort out exactly where the hell the game industry is going. 3-D? Motion? A Kevin Butler theocracy? Whichever it is, we’ll be on-hand to deliver the latest reports and reviews.

Stay tuned!

ButtonMasher Podcast #80

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

For this, the octogennial, podcast we investigate the intricacies of navigating the wild wild old west. Who to shoot, who not to shoot, how to effectively hog tie even the friskiest of prostitutes. Everything that you need to know and probably some stuff that you don’t want to know, and might even regret using.

ButtonMasher Podcast #79

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

There’s always plenty to talk about when screenshots of an upcoming game are released, we get right into the minutia of the new Call of Duty screens and also gaze forward into the future to look at what is on the gaming horizon, i.e Crackdown 2!

This week a GaR free podcast, and we experience both perfection and discovery, next week? Probably some little creatures.

A Big Whoop for Monkey Island 2 SE

Saturday, May 29th, 2010

I don’t know about you, but the Monkey Island 2 video diary (featured right after the break) gave me a total geekgasm. Behind the scenes talking heads with the original developers, and Dominic Armato recording lines for the voice of Guybrush, as well as scenes from the special edition in action.

So hold onto your rubber chickens folks, MI2:SE should be releasing in the coming months…

Wugga doesn’t have a computer at the moment, so most of this weeks podcast came via GaR’s programming services and a piece of paper.

ButtonMasher Podcast #77

I don’t think it was the alcohol, but it definitely could have been the Chili that caused the incongruence of this podcast. There are plenty of words, but how much is really being said?

ButtonMasher Podcast #76

If you ignore the song at the end then I would say that this is probably one of the least offensive podcasts in a long while.

Bird Strike Free for the Day

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

PikPok is the new iPhone/iTouch centric developer that branched off from the Sidhe mothership a few months ago. They have released five games in total, most of them involving balls. One of their games, Bird Strike, is free for the day.

The game involves using the tilt sensor to control a sling shotted bird up through the sky aided only by fireworks.

Is there a special someone on your friends list, someone with whom you would like to share some alone time? Perhaps create a memento to signify your feelings? The future holds good news for you. Not only this, but also, heres a podcast where we speculate what offspring would result if a leading video game developer were to co-opulate with one of the writers on this site.

New iPhone OS Includes Game Center

Friday, April 9th, 2010

Looks like the Plus+ network and Open Feint are going to be made redundant. Apple announced some new features for the 4.0 firmware that includes multitasking, folders, iBooks, and Game Center. Like Xbox Live, Game Center will have achievements, leaderboards and matchmaking.

The catch is, you need to have a 3GS phone, latest iPod Touch, or iPad for the multitasking to work. I’m not sure yet if Game Center will run on every model, but if Plus+/Open Feint games manage to pull it off, I see no reason why Apple can’t. Somewhat disappointing for most of us, and exciting for only a few, OS 4.0 will release somewhere between June and August.
