Default Miss Saigon in Christchurch at Theatre Royal

Ok who am I kidding. I don't expect any bites. And do PM me if you wish to avoid the shame.

I've been waiting for an affordable way to see Miss Saigon for years (over 10 years in fact), and it's finally on our shores. Even better I can drive instead of flying.

Is anyone familiar with the Isaac Theatre Royal in Christchurch?

Ticketek told me that the only tickets left were in the upper gallery (I presume in "the Gods").

Tickets there are only $20 but I'd have been prepared to pay more (much more) for better tickets. Unfortunately I may have no choice with my intended show date.

So does anyone know if I'll see anything for $20?

Reminds me of the nose-bleed seats at Cabrini-Green Stadium in Chicago.

I'm actually quite partial to a good show - there's something incredibly romantic about going to a 'play' or show like this.

I saw The Marriage of Figaro at the Aotea Centre back in the early 90's. It was the 300th anniversary of Mozarts death, so they really pulled out all the stops. Was amazing.

I've heard very good things about Miss Saigon. Just take a small pair of binoculars (or viewing glasses) with you and you'll be sweet.

Will have to remember those binoculars. Although TBH I've never "wished" I had brought some when attending such shows - won't hurt to bring them though!

I'm very excited. Booked my "upper gallery" tickets that I was originally told were SOLD OUT. Weird huh? I phoned again saying that I was offered 3 different sets of 2 seats in this section ($40) on the website, when they had told me on the phone (Ticketek) that the same seats are available online or over the phone.

Turns out an even better 2 seats were available when I phoned to question this (remember it was originally "sold out" in this section), and booked these.

Frustrating when the online system doesn't actually allow you to choose seats. It does allow you to make up to 3 bookings per order, so what I had to do was make 3 separate bookings for 2 people to "see" what seats were offered, with the intention of cancelling the 2 sets I didn't want.

Whew! Very excited though. Have been waiting years to see this and today I pulled out the soundtrack I bought years ago for $25 (half price) as an impulse purchase that introduced me to the show.
