Default Serious Sam coming to XBLA

One of my favourite Xbox games remastered in HD - this is the most fun run around shoot everything in sight game there is - Serious Sam 2 wasn't quite as much fun as the original in my view. I still pull this out and play now and then.

Serious Sam HD Announced for PC and XBLA Platforms June 26, 2009

Finally, I am happy to officially announce one of our projects we are working on: Serious Sam HD for PC and XBLA Platforms.

Below you can locate both press releases from the publishers for each platform.

Stay serious,

Roman Ribaric

CDV Publishes PC Classic

CDV Software Entertainment AG works together with Croteam and Devolver Digital to develop Serious Sam HD for the PC, which will be released in all territories (except in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independant States) in retail stores and as a digital download, in autumn 2009.

Serious Sam was released in 2001 and received numerous awards, including Game of the Year from Gamespot and the Editor's Choice award from IGN. Based on Croteam's Serious Engine 3, Serious Sam HD sticks to the original by sending the hero to the battlefields of various ancient civilizations against Mental's armies. The same speed and action-packed game mechanics and the characteristic humor have been preserved and will shine like new in high definition!

"We were thrilled by the idea of resurrecting Sam with spectacular HD visuals and pimping him up for Xbox LIVE. Sam's fanbase is still very active and motivated us to do this project. Therefore, we are happy to confirm that Sam will return as cocky, bold, and sharp-witted as always to the screens of his loyal fans and to new players as well," said Roman Ribaric, CEO of croteam.

"CDV is very pleased to cooperate with the publishing of Serious Sam HD. The title inherits from its previous success. Even today, Serious Sam still revels in its cult status among gamers. The production of an HD version of this classic is good news for all PC gamers," said Arne Peters, COO of CDV Software Entertainment AG.

The first SS game is backwards compatible so you can pick it up quite cheaply and play if you wish.

The second added co-op multiplayer play which was great fun. With any luck they will add that into 1 as well as updating the graphics.

So is this completely different to the one currently on XBL?

Just better visuals?

Its not worth $89 in my opinion, after going outa my way to get SS off the US store it felt dated and miserable when i played it.

If it is just better visuals, i'd have to agree. Like with the upcoming Halo CE remake - will have to be either something extra added in, or a good budget price.

Like the recent HD release of Beyond Good And Evil - this is the way to price an HD remake of an old game
