Hey guys. My new found fatherhood has driven my gaming volume to unacceptably low volumes. So I have decided to invest in some decent gaming headsets. At the moment I am tossing up between getting one of the Turtle Beach Ear Force jobbies or the somewhat more expensive but pretty good AX360 ones by Triton.
So firstly…does anyone know where to get the things in our neck of the woods? Secondly, are there other equally good alternatives? http://www.trittontechnologies.com/ http://www.turtlebeach.com/products/...eadphones.aspx |

The Tritons would be what I owuld go for. They have a 5.1 setup that uses optical input.
Evil should be able to give you an idea of how the Turtle Beach units work. |

I bought in two pairs of turtle beach X3 headphones (thanks B!), one for myself and one for Tel. Tel's work briiliantly as do mine. The in game sound is awesome and they are easy to set up, voice chat works well. The wife absolutely loves the silence at night! I've been using them for about a week and havn't had to change the batteries.
My only complaint, which Tel does not suffer from, is a slight background hiss, only really noticable during low noise situations. The new X4 headphones which are dearer also have 5.1 audio. These are not available in NZ or from playasia etc, but you can import these from ebay, and all you need to run them in NZ is a plug adapter. Any more questions feel free to ask. Once again, I love these headphones! |

i should probably invest in one of these cos at the moment i put the standard xbox360 headset on my ear and then put some big panasonic ones on top of that.
the sound is so much better with headsets and you can hear people creeping around and you can fully tell what direction theyre in so you can cap em b4 they cap you |

Damn that's what I need too. The Tritton's are $165 from Australia, if they ship to NZ.
Maybe we could source a good deal and get some for those who are keen. Either the X3 or Tritton would be good. |

K, I brought them from Amazon, but you can get them cheaper on Ebay. The reason i got them from Amazon was to get them to Brians hotel on time.
All up they cost me NZ$140. |

I've just emailed the Aussie distributor of Tritton for a cost of 4 sets of the AX360 delivered to NZ. Will let you know...

Just had a chat with Stan from FirstGames (http://nzeal.vendorama.co.nz/)
He is going to have a chat with some distros and see if he can get some units in. Anyone keen for some? If there is sufficient interest I am sure he will sort us out. |

The more I look at these the X3's are more attractive due to being wireless.....

Email just recieved re: the Tritton's.
Barrie, Thank you for your email. Yes we do ship to NZ and the AX360 is certified for operation in A/NZ. We are TRITTON partners for this region. What we have found is, when you purchase GST is added. As you know, when a product leaves Australia we can not charge GST. Instead of refunding GST, we use it towards the International courier and we pretty much add an additional $5 for the freight from our side to cover the total cost. The SUPANOVA was the expo we took part in and it will be finishing soon. The code is S******A08 (you didn’t hear from me). Thanks David NetOpt Sales www.netopt.com.au |

So by my calculations the AX360 headset delivered would be $215NZ plus whatever their GST is
