I understand the story involves some ancient astronaut pseudoscience bullshit, which I realise shouldn't bother me so much. But it does.

I'll probably still go see it though :P

I only played a little. I bought the PC version, which in hindsight was a mistake. It's plenty atmospheric and scary, but the control setup doesn't work well on PC and you have to choose between massive mouse lag with V-sync on or really blatant, ugly vertical tearing with it off :<

Damn. It's definitely worth checking out on console, if you can! Best survival horror of this generation. I would loan you mine, but I traded it in recently (and likely got about $3 for it :/ )

Yeah i thought that too. Even down to how the title 'unfolds' and the same derelict ship as seen in Alien.

Don't get me wrong, still really like the look of it, seems like a cross between the very-suspenseful original Alien and the more action-orientated Aliens.

And i'd still prefer it over The Hunger Games

Nah. I mean, I can't really comment. I never even bothered to check out Resurrection purely based on all the hate it got, just as I never bothered to check out AvP.
