In some endings your crew dies.....might have been that.

In ME2 you can basically do the rounds of the crew. Reneagde Shepard did them all. DID THEM ALL!
And if you do them all AFTER the finial mission the plummiting morale will never come back to haunt you.

Maybe.

But my Galactic Readiness was at least 85% (just guessing here). I had everyone on board to fight the war. Didn't do the N7 missions though and left some side quests unchecked.

You need a 4000+ score in the war assets (so if your readiness is 50%, you'll need 8000) in order to get the best results.

I do have some morals! Never Renegade...that is just icky! My sheppard was honourable Sheppard but had a major problem with turning down advancing tail......all great heroes have a weakness!

There was a list I saw somewhere that showed the ending results depending on "effective war readiness" (total war assets x readiness) and then depending on the final choices made. Only one possible solution leaves Sheppard alive as an example.

My Shep survived... I think. I went right. But I spent more time online than I did in the single player, so I had more than the required war assets.

1 thing that pissed me off though, is I did the whole playthrough as a Paragon, but when I come across my 1st argument on the Citadel, I wasn't aware of what was going on and I didn't wait to listen to either side of the argument. So I just talked to the closest person and as a result, I got renegade points for it. I didn't realise it at the time and I assume it was the only thing that stopped me for getting all the Paragon dialouge choices at the end with the illusive man.

But on the bright side, it's the minor bit of motivation that inspires me to complete the game on an insanity run. That and the hope that the single player dlc will be out by the time I get there

I think the next step, now that Bioware has stormed the castle of conservative America's homophobia, is to get some science fictional STI quest line or event situation in there.
Yeah, you boned Jack, you should have known she wasn't clean, and NOW you've passed it on to Miranda, and she's confronted you about it in front of the entire crew, whilst you were flirting with Tali.

Try and Paragon your way out of that.

They need a bi character to sleep around like a dog with two dicks, and then get an STI, and give it to Garrus, and then for the Turian Empire to get all 'jihad' and homophobic on the humans, and start a war ....... c'mon, would be a wicked side-plot for ME4.
