Drinking a Stoke Bomber Bohemian Ale tonight. It tastes amazeballs. What's everyone else reinvigorating their tongues with this fine evening?

I have some Fat Yak pale ale in the fridge, but my face is full of flu and I probably wouldn't be able to taste it :<

So just before podcast I opened a bottle of Renaissance pale ale. Opened it with a ciggie lighter, of course.

The cap exploded off the ****ing thing like the fist of an angry god. Hit me in the eye. I dropped my Kindle and my ciggie. Managed to place the beer down upright as I fell to my knees. Had no vision in my left eye, though after a minute on the ground gasping in pain it recovered somewhat, though still largely covered by bluish smears reminiscent of an afterimage of a bright light. Now, 20 minutes later, my vision's back to normal, but my eye socket feels like it's been smashed off. I think I'm going to have a black eye tomorrow.

Beer was nice though.

The beer was just testing you, to see if you were worthy.

Well I drank it before my vision had properly returned, which is either spectacular success or catastrophic failure on that count.

Great story.

On a similar note, was about to open a bottle of bubbles at the bar and took the foil off, the cork decided that was enough incentive and blew out, hit the roof, then rebounded onto a table of ladies drinking. Cracked me up

So how was the eye the next day GaR?

Gonna try some of that Isaacs Winter Cider tonight. Picked up a 6-pack, and will try it hot. Can put a cinnamon quill in it, so i think it'll be like a fizzy mulled wine or mead type thing. I wonder how it being heated will affect the level of muntedness?

Looks so weird in a slow cooker.

Anyway, warm piss is lethal; they're all gone, disappeared in record time, and i've got the meanest glow on. Nice.

So..... Mata Blondie Belgian Wit is to be avoided. Cool. Have looked at the Mata stuff on occasion, but will avoid this one.

I saw a nice looking Porter at the supermarket, but it was $9.50 for a 500ml bottle, so i figured the ciders were a better option, and i've wanted to try them for a few weeks. Lethal i tell ya!

It didn't bruise up like I expected, but it was painful for several days afterward, mostly when suddenly exposed to bright light, and when refocussing. Came right in the end.

In other news, I've been smashing Harrington's Classy Red lately. Very nice ale.

I tried a few more of the Boundary Rd ones, and they're a bit average, TBH. Bouncing Czech (a pilsner) was very sharp, which i guess you'd expect with a pilsner. I thought it'd be more 'wheaty'. Their Mumbo Jumbo Pale Ale is quite similar - harsh edge.

Will stick to their Chocolate Moose Porter.
