Dunno. The 3 hour format is far easier to stomach, and the University Oval is an AWESOME ground to watch cricket (should I say lounge around on the bank).

I've taken several groups of non-sport watchers just to sit in the sun and picnic with me, and they have all had a great time despite knowing very little about how the game works.

Helps that Otago WINS at cricket too. Same can't really be said of the Highlanders.

I've always liked cricket. I still probably wouldn't go to a 50 over or 4 day domestic match though.
