Why remake The Hitcher, why???

As part of a 3 for $10 I watched the new version of The Hitcher this weekend.

Sean Bean is miserable compared to Rutger Hauer, the film has none of the sense of psychological threat or sinister overtones that made the original a classic back in the day.

They did try to skew the story a little and give it a twist, but it just does not work and it mean the removal of the classic chip/finger/ketchup scene.

Please, Hollywood, for the love of God - stop throwing money at projects like this....
