Default Racing with a Pro: Race 8

Race 8: Maple Valley - C class open

I was confident. My poo-brown Porsche was on pole, and had proven itself by setting some great times at tracks like Silverstone.

Emetic had the agile but frightening Renault Clio V6, as did Teljam, back in 4th. Starting 3rd was Mooser, in his Hello Kitty

Volkswagen Touareg. I don't know either. Furtehr back was Sparky in the white Ford Focus, and Shane in a black one. Then Clark in

the Lotus Evora and Happy Ronin in the orange Vauxhall VX220.

I run into trouble at turn 1, when Emetic runs into me. Mooser roars past in his pink urban-spec APC, followed by Teljam, Sparky and

Clark.

Ronin and Shane decide Emetic and I are awesome enough to emulate, so they go exploring as well.

Emetic gets back on track and quickly passes Clark to take 4th.

Teljam slides down the inside of Mooser for the lead, but muffs it and nearly turns the little Renault around in front of the hulking VW.

Sparky keeps his Focus tidy and overtakes Teljam.

Clark stuffs the Lotus into the wall on the run back up the hill, and Shane takes 5th spot.

Teljam blitzes Sparky and Mooser on the start/finish straight and takes the lead...

But he can't hold it, turning around on the sweeper, allowing Mooser and Sparky back past. Emetic and Shane also get by.

Clark tries to overtake as well, but gets tangled up with Teljam, while my battered 911 breezes past.

Sparky and Emetic get past Mooser as the big VW gets out of shape on the way down the hill.

Teljam gets his shit together and takes out Clark for 7th.

Shane gets past Mooser briefly but is relegated back to 4th palce in short order.

I tip the flying turd over on the kerbs over the top of the hill. Teljam gets past me before I figure out which way is up.

Shane tries to go around Mooser again, but just bounces off the back of the pink horror. Emetic loses control of the Clio allowing

them both to move up a place.

Mooser follows the trend I'd set and flips the Touareg off the kerb. Shane avoids the fallen giant and takes 2nd place.

Emetic snakes stylishly between Mooser and Shane, overtaking them both and taking 2nd.

Shane edges past Emetic to claim 2nd place back...

But spears off the track a couple of corners later, yielding it back.

Mooser tries to overtake Shane, but ends up offroading. Ronin takes advantage and pinches 4 place.

Shane and Emetic tangle on the last lap, but Emetic holds onto 2nd.

Sparky takes the win, upside down and backwards. Emetic takes second on a peculiar angle, while Shane takes 3rd - his first podium of the night - and Happy Ronin comes in 4th. Mooser's lumbering tank rocks in in 5th place.

Final Standings

1 Sparky
2 Emetic
3 Shane
4 Happy Ronin
5 Mooser
6 Teljam
7 Gar
8 Clark

Haha, that was one of the roughest races ever Not rough between competitors; more just everyone crashing and rolling on their own.
Sparky parked up at the start/finish for the sake of a cool crash... and I obliged.

Yup, good race, that I seem to recall Shane beat all our lap times by second or two too ._.;

Those curbs at the top of the hill are death on toast.

Hello Kitty represent! I have the same paintjob on my Touareg =P

It'd be nice if the recorded replays showed race results. Getting laptimes is a pain in the arse as it is. Even the final standings have to be observed >_<

Yip GaR has done a great job on the commentary. I imagine even though he will be an expert at producing them now each one would take a bit of time.

It takes ages just to delete the old photos off the storefront so you can put new ones up .__.

Each summary takes an hour or more to do. Actually writing the summary is quick, easy and enjoyable. Takes 10 minutes. The rest of the time is going through the replay and taking photos, which isn't too bad, but it's painstaking. I note down each photo's file name, who's in it and what's happening, save and upload to the storefront. I also note down who's in what car, and the final standings. Then I get on my pc, download the photos, then reupload them to Photobucket. If there are more than 18 photos, I then have to delete the first lot off the storefront, which takes about twelve trillion years, and upload the rest. Then I just write the summary and post it.

There's actually only one race to go; that massive slamfest in New York. After that was just the SUV race and the tag, which I'll grab some photos from, but not actual summaries.
