Out of the current games out (ie. not Gears 2) I think the only one where you can play over multiple Xboxs with great success is Halo 3, the rest seem to have lots of problems
Couple of weeks ago we had one with 4 Xboxs, 4 projectors and lots of Halo 3, it was pretty mean, considering how many different types of games you can play in it But yeah depending on how many people there are, you wanna have other options too. As I said I dunno how Gears will work system link but for some reason others (eg. COD4) don't work well system link (only like one per screen or something stupid) |

Farcry - the first game was always a great game for this and can now be picked up quite cheaply. Runs really smoothly and has the bonus of user made maps.
The game of course can now be picked up quite cheaply so it's easier to have multiple copies. Haven't tried Farcry 2 yet but I'm hoping it runs just as well. |

it depends what you like to play eh. I get together with some mates every few months and we usually play Vegas 2, Call of Duty 4 (poor on a LAN but still fun-ish), FarCry, Orange Box (Team Fortress 2 is great with 6+ people), Forza 2, PGR4. Make sure the games you plan to play are able to be LAN'd, things like Grand Theft Auto and a lot of EA games don't have the option.
Buy some simple food, savouries and cookies or something, try and have a setup where its difficult to see other peoples screens to prevent screen-watching, or have distinct teams set up. Good luck ![]() |

If you're playing with mates, look for some Halo3 custom games.
Griffball is a winner, of course.... but other ones are great for LANs. Ones that disadvantage the person in the lead (with markers, less speed or lack of shields) is a great way to level the playing field if there is a big range in skills. Also - Bomber Man can be a hit!

Griffball 3 and Gears 2 would make for an awesome Lan. They are fast and high impact perfect for oneupmanshipism

Make sure mum provides sausage rolls, that always helped at my LANs.
Rocket Race for halo 3 is a really good one. A set up where you can see everyone else's faces but not their screens is always a good idea, also coming up with a battle cry can make things more awesome. I MADE A HAT! or MMMMMM JAM! both work quite well.

With my mates we usually play Halo 3 and Gears of War 1 and they work great as long as all the consoles have the same updates. (But this can be a big pain when your somewhere without broadband access) So give Gears 1 a try since most people have that, you can't rely on everyone purchasing Gears 2 day one! |
