Hey your right. Wow, I can't believe I didn't think of simply stealing the games.

Why make such a comment? You're either a thief yourself or think its ok for others to be one.

Heh... frustration and desire will drive a man to desperate measures though. Especially when he believes he's being unfairly gypped by the system.

I don't have a psp, but I don't see copying games for it as any different to downloading mp3s, taping shows off sky, making a mix tape etc.
I suppose that's a different issue which I shouldn't really bring up here.. but I've typed it and can't not post it now.

I wasn't going to comment initially but what the hell. It is sad that a small team of hackers do a better job than a Sony team. Sony has to go through extra legal processes etc obviously but it's their console and we are talking about Sony NZ here who simply don't bother bringing NZ titles that are available elsewhere.

As for stealing, no I don't do it myself, not interested. But these games are over 10 years old (not abandonware but getting there) and if it is too hard to still own a copy yourself nowadays (your best bet is Trademe) and Sony won't bring the title to you via PSN then I do think it is ok for others to do as they wish. The PSOne is an obsolete console, current gen rentals are more of an issue than someone downloading/ripping/buying (like this is going to affect anyone) an ISO. If Sony later makes it available then you can purchase it if it makes you feel good.

You were making a good argument until you made the "do as they wish" comment. If Sony won't bring the games to PSN then my advice is get over it and not turn to a life of piracy.

SONY doesn't care about us enough to include us in what everyone else gets... so why should they care about when we decide to steal off em?

I'm not a pirate, but I'm down with the outfits

Devil's advocate indeed, lol.

Ok, so if the PSone games are completely unavailable for purchase here, is pirating them going to hurt or help Sony?

Help, if only generating interest in IPs Sony still has going. Then again depending on the nature of the pirate, perhaps it will generate interest in pirating said IP.

I think at most it will help them and at least it won't hurt very much.

Theft is theft is theft. Pirates always use the same excuses and none of them stack up. Regardless of how available a game is or how cheap it is they will still end up stealing it. It has little to do with any of the reasons that pirates use as its more about being morally bankrupt.

The only time I'd condone piracy of games is if it's old and unavailable through a retailer. If you buy a game second hand, they company still doesn't get a profit, it doesn't harm them.

Well thats my point. You'd be pretty lucky to find a copy of Castlevania or Suikoden for anyting near the price the yanks would pay off the PS store.

Again, not a pirate... but would they really care if we did "steal" something that is otherwise unobtainable

Theft is only wrong because someone gets hurt from it though. Picking ten cents up off the street is theft, but it doesn't hurt anyone and anyone sensible won't give it a second thought.

I've uhhh borrowed games off sites where it is impossible to get them otherwise and then bought later (Theif 1 is an example). Personally if they can't be bothered making the goods available when you're able to get it elsewhere in the world well then boo hoo to them. I generally go back and buy it once it is in the store but to be honest half the time they don't deserve it for the shoddy service they give us.
