Yes worth getting. I have it on DVD and will be getting be getting it on Blu-ray as well and it's only $69.95.

The filming for the new series was completed sometime ago with some of the filming done here in Melbourne. You can find some of the vids on youtube. Can't wait should be good.

Yeah it is the original. I think it's being shown again to lead viewers into the new 'sister' miniseries (finally!) called The Pacific which is releasing some time in March. Although I'd be surprised if we get to see it then in NZ.

It's gonna be awesome.

The Band of Brothers box set is worth any price under $100. It's such a killer series, I love it. Easily better than any war movie.

Agreed, great series but not sure if its better than "any war movie". The Pianist, Schindlers List and Saving Private Ryan are 3 modern day war classics.

The complete Band of Brothers experience, for me, is better than any of those war movies. It's not just a matter of quantity, but the quality is equal to Saving Private Ryan, for the entire series.

The unique opportunity for a miniseries like that to develop character and story in detail is something that a movie just can't do. Usually miniseries' have sub-par production values and acting but this one does not.

Not to negate the 3 movies you mentioned (and others) of course.

I also have BoB on DVD. Fantastic series. I am really pumped for The Pacific.

I have in interest in military history and have just finished reading a book called DDay by Antony Beevor. He has some other interesting reads... Stalingrad and Berlin. They are all well worth a read if you interested in this genre.

Like most TV shows I find BoB hard to watch when broadcast on TV. You're getting into the moment, totally engrossed by what's going on then you get a break and you suddenly find yourself watching some god for saken ad about some new and improved product for obscuring vaginal bleeding or some scientitian promoting hair soap.

In short, DVD or Blu-Ray is the best way to enjoy a series like BoB.

Hell yeah. I can't watch anything on free-to-air TV anymore. Ads, cropping to 4:3, and 'cut-to-fit' editing drive me NUTS.
