Everyone saw the Sony Press Conference featuring the facts and figures being presented via a customised level of LittleBigPlanet right?Â* You don't really remember any of those stats do you? I don't, but I sure as hell remember some of the features that the presentation showed and how the level of fun and humour that LittleBig has always conveyed is still there in spades. We had played it and previewed it well before E3, but what has changed since then? Let's have a look.
Not much (if anything) has changed in regards to the idea of the game or the amount of fun you can have, what they have done though is polish the fairly jumpy frame rate to offer a free flowing visual experience.Â* In the previous builds the frame rate jumped a lot depending on what was happening. When we had four people in the game doing what they do it was slightly frustrating and while the game was still wicked fun it tarnished the otherwise perfect presentation of the game.
All of the bugs that I encountered surrounding respawning and level completion are gone and the experience flows well between levels.
What about new stuff? Well they have now added the ability to isolateÂ* and control the movements of the left and right arms independently of each other. What this means is that you can strike some retro cool disco moves involving pointing in different directions. Functionally it also adds significantly to the competitive multiplayer experience. You can hit your opponents by holding down L2/R2 and then flicking the thumbstick quickly to the left and then as fast as possible to the right (or in reverse for the right arm), this move will hit any other Sackoids within range.
So that is about the sum of the changes made since the last time we played the game, hopefully the October release date doesn't get pushed back or I might have to make some very angry faces or start by Sackboy cosplaying campaign early.
