Default New Internet Time

Seeing as I was exceeding my piddy 40gb cap every month I have gone back to telecom to embrace their "big time" plan. ie no caps. We'll see how much traffic management pisses me off, but so far so good and nice speeds.

Fap fap fap fap...

have you ever pulled anything down at that actual speed?

my read high but it actually has never hit anywhere near what it reads even with a close/local download.

your download speeds are mostly set by their upload speeds

It looks like their big time plan would be better to be on than this...

I get full speeds most of the time, but a lot of servers limit download speeds so I can have 10 different files downloading at once to like 100kB/s per file, but not one large one at >100kB/s. I have to use a download manager that splits the file into parts or use torrents to get it up to 1.2MB/s.

Those Telecom plans look good but I don't know how well ADSL2+ performs in my area or how much traffic management would slow it down so I'll probably stay with TCL for a while yet who haven't changed a lot over the years while other ISPs bring out new deals.

Mostly? Only on torrents or if your upload is really slow compared to download then it might limit it. Citation needed.

Your internet is better for online gaming since it has a good upload speed

Yes, if your ADSL is particularly A, then your download speed can be limited by your upload bandwidth, as it can get clogged by all the ACK packets. This was more of a problem when we had "full speed" down but only 256k up, but still could be an issue...

I get similar speeds to that on Orcon too. I'm very tempted to leave them.
