So who else here wears glasses?
I've had several pairs over the years and each time I choose the same silver and oval-shaped frames! I'm short-sighted btw. Since taking a break from contacts I keep noticing the frames and that I'm peering over them which is quite annoying. They tend to slip down a bit. I want 2020P vision but all I get is distortion. ![]() Those black square-rimmed glasses seem to be all the rage these days. Are they actually better to wear or is it just for show? |

I have some they can be pricey (mine were $1100 SCEATS, lenses were the real killer, ultra thin) but i only were em when i dont have my contacts in these are them here..but mine are a very dark metallic blue
![]() if your not sure what you want get some help, also it all depends on your face shape wether u can pull off a particular style of glasses. Last edited by Vivasanti; 11-09-2009 at 11:01 PM. |

Unfortunately I have them too, short sighted too so wear them most of the time. Got contacts for soccer/ anything else that requires them but wear glasses 99% of the time

I've had to wear glasses since I was 14.
I've found that the larger frames do handle the occasional knocks that happen now and again. |

I've had to wear glasses since I was 11months old.
They originally had me wearing a patch over one eye to try and strengthen the muscles in the weaker eye before I got glasses, I have recently enquired about getting Lasik done (anyone had it done?), but unfortunately the conditions I have with my eyes mean that getting it is unsuitable at this stage. |

I wear glasses as well, have done since I was 10. I wear contacts everyday and only wear my glasses at night and weekends when I'm at home. Ive had the same pair of glasses for about 6 or 7 years so am due for a new pair, although my presription hasn't changed over that time, just the style is a bit naff.
The wife booked me in for a Lasik consultation and my eye's are so far out of wack they can't do anything with them. My only option is for implanted contact lenses. |

Implantable Contact Lenses: ICLs
Implantable contact lenses are inserted through a small incision in the cornea and placed behind the iris and in front of the natural lens. These thin, pliable lenses can be an alternative to LASIK surgery and are used to correct conditions that laser surgery may be unable to correct, such as extreme myopia (nearsightedness). The ICL procedure is virtually pain free and has a 95 percent success rate. More info here My prescription is at -6.5 and -6 and my cornea is too thin to do anything with, so thi is the only option. |

$48 a week at the moment, hear that add on the radio all the time.
my dad had lasik eye surgary done about 10 years back, and he's never looked back. his mum, my 80 year old grandmother, about a year ago was legally blind, and now, after surgery and recovery time, she now has perfect vision. pretty good stuff. |
