Kind of the wrong thread for this but I wanted to post in response to FaceAche.
Is it too early to call Kinect a failure yet? Nothing compelling IMO 6 months after release, and mine is just gathering dust. I'm kinda glad I didn't pick up Move based on what FaceAche (and others) have said, and I think Kinect is similar in success or lack of it. Or you may have different opinions? |

Yeah in saying that about Move, i've got to admit, i haven't touched Kinect in months. I'm sure it will get some more use the next time we have sprogs over, but at the moment, it's gathering dust, and unless something decent comes out, i can't see that changing.
Would never have bought it as a stand-alone product, but i don't regret getting it in the bundle i bought. Edit; i will say that the best thing about Kinect, is that it's set up in lots of stores, so it's cool just just wander in, and start owning people who are trying it for the first time. I made a little kid cry last week - fucking little bastards, trying to take me on playing Kinect Sports table tennis ..... smashed!!! ![]() |

I thought Kinect had sold record numbers of something. Or something. According to Microsoft.

Try Killzone with the move controls and without the sharpshooter. It's pretty good. The more I try the sharpshooter the less impressed I am with it.
PS move still getting thrashed in my circle of friends...

I'm sure all the kiddies around the place are still grooving on their Kinect Adventures and Sport and Kinectimals etc. Me, not so much. Sparky - yeah i dunno eh; seems like it'd be even more clunky without the Sharpshooter. Will try it on the new projector - mate has said i can borrow for a few days, so will give it a real thorough testing. And with a "God i hope this works awesome!" attitude - believe me, i want it to be totally awesome. |

you forget sce is still investing quite heavily in first and second party content, acquiring new developers, expanding its portfolio and securing exclusive content for third party games it hasn't abandon its core gaming consumers, it's stacked for content actually sony is advantaged that it's hifi and tv department is independent from SCE, SOE and sony vaio computers, where all facets work independently but merge to control the home living room Leaving its gaming divisions to continue work on core gaming software. I didn't see MS's press conference, but I highly doubt they'll forget to invest in second party content, acquire new devs, expand their portfolio and secure exclusive content. They're just trying to grab some more casual users for the mean time. Sadly, that means a boring E3 presentation for the likes of us..... well, not you, you're a Sony fanboy.

heh, nice. Well if M$ are still focused on the core, they havent showed it for sometime now, I guess theyre waiting for next E3?
. I dont think theyre just trying to grab casuals, theyre whoring them, and then merely relying on third parties to cater to their core gamers needs, whilst releasing a mere rehashes of its 3 big ticket franchises, Halo, Gears and Forza . M$ down the line will be more concerned at getting Kinect to set the timer on your popcorn maker than they will be with making the next big RPG/FPS. |

You're right, Morock, there's no risk of Sony following Microsoft's footsteps with this stuff. But not because Sony are awesome and are loyal to core gamers. It's because they are device makers and they don't have the strengths in software or the internet that Microsoft does.

I have never brought a product from a company thinking they are loyal to me, I just know they are loyal to my dollars, and as long as they are providing a solution to fufill a need I have, I'm willing to trade.
