AU$165 + AU$5 for shipping (the gst content of the AU$165 is used for shipping).

So it should be NZ$215 all up.

Oh, and if you haven't worked out the code for the special price, it's SUPANOVA08....

If anyone can find the Turtle Beach X4's at a good price let me know, they sound like the AX360 but are Wireless....

it looks like X4's are still on pre-order overseas, coming out this week apparently. I think I'll go 5.1 if i can... even with an extra $100. though my wife might have something to say about that

Silly question time. Has anyone tried 5.1 headphones? Is it just a bullshit channel mixing passed off as 5.1 or are they actually good at a real 5.1 sound?

"First things first: Can a headset with two earpieces reproduce bona fide 5.1 surround sound? In short, yes, at least to a point. Tritton built the AX 360's with four separate speakers in each earpiece, and they've somehow configured them to provide fairly convincing impressions of front, side, and rear sound sources. The sense of positional sound isn't as convincing as a standard 5.1 speaker setup, but it's surprisingly close, and it's dramatic enough to provide a real departure from simple stereo output. "

Ha! Just read the same review.

Actually most reviews I read seemed pretty positive for the AX360's.

What Sock quoted. Also, Doc from SG tried them out at QuakeCon and seemed to like them.

I have to admit I love the turtle beach X3 headphones.
I was thinking of doing a write-up for the site - but I want to use them a little longer first.

I like Wireless, but to be honest I haven't even got the 360 on a 5.1 setup so the Trittons could be an awesome treat!

Birthday in a couple of weeks, time to convince the wife I think....

At the end of the day, $215 is way too much for me to consider spending on headphones. The emulated surround (stero + extender) on the x3 are still more then directional enough for me.

Wireless is rad but I loath batteries. I think the Tritton is perfect for what I want. Surround with built in headset (that is also removable)

I think I'll be able use the excuse of being able to watch movies with them too...

Finally found the cable length, 16ft! heaps long enough for the lounge if watching movies...

I wonder if my HD DVD player has the optical and coaxial active at the same time? Could just leave the spare hanging out the back of the cabinet to plug into the AX360...
