Nah, the tickers are nothing to do with us. Our captions are the ones that basically transcribe the audio of a programme for hearing-impaired viewers. We (understandably) make the odd typo when we do the live stuff, but our offline stuff (the content that isn't live and we actually have a bit of time to put together) is peer edited and generally of a very high standard.

If anyone wants to see some live captioning (and could do with a laugh), I'll be working on Close Up and This Is Your Life tonight

If anyone's interested in a little extra insight into captioning, I wrote a blog post about it.

Mods, please change thread title to "TV captioning"

Yeah, i didn't actually think you'd personally be responsible for the news tickers, was just, y'know, being a wank

So how do you actually do it Live? Is the hearing impaired stuff like delayed 30 seconds for you to type out the line that's said and then it comes up on the hearing impaired viewers screen? Edit; maybe i'll just read your blog, like you suggested, duh! Re-Edit; Okay, so live, is actually live. The whole 'Dual Qwerty Keyboard/captioners working together" sounds really high-pressure, and very confusing.

I dare you to put a Buttonmasher related typo into This Is Your Life!! Go-on!!!

Haha. Would be amazing if you sneak in a masher, or Forza 4 reference.

Who is on this is your life tonight?

I'm sure I wouldn't live to see tomorrow if I dropped in a Buttonmasher shout-out or let you know who is on This Is Your Life :P

It's probably too big for the size requirements of avatars. Your sig might fit it though, as long as it's hosted somewhere.
