Last night's episode was bloody good. There seem to be more and more differences from the books as it moves along. WHich is good and bad i suppose. Good cause it still has surprises. Bad cause.... well, I like the books

Glad they focused in on that, rather then jumping from story to story.

Anyone else spot Renly's helm in there? =P loved 'The National's version of Rains of Castamere too, so haunting.

Book 2 was always going to be a mission to film. There are four or five big events, but unlike book 1, there is no single event that the whole thing hangs on. Not only that, but some huge characters (Dany, Jamie) have piss all to do. It think that, all things considered, they did a pretty good job of checking all the boxes that had to be ticked while adding just enough to keep the side-stories interesting.

Really looking forward to Book 3. It's going to blow holes in people's minds.

The show has been cagey around the White Walkers. But there is obviously a clear difference between ‘The Others’ and their minions, the wights.

It’s still great to see how the show/book/story starts with no magic – in a world that seems so real and grounded. And then the supernatural things slowly ‘wake up’.

Whut? Pretty sure that the white walkers were present in the first or second episode of Season 1?

Is that a reference to the first or 2nd part of my post?

If the first:
Spoiler: Click to Spoil

The name ‘White Walkers’ seem to be used for both the Wights and the Others.

If the 2nd:
Spoiler: Click to Spoil

In the very first scene, in the very first episode, there are flashes of a shadowy thing with glowing eyes that kills the rangers – but only a small flash of a dark outline and it’s written off as a wildling attack.

Point is, nothing from series one would have prepared you for smoke monsters or other magic that appears in the series.
