Apple products tend to be exactly the same price everywhere (they're pretty ruthless with third-party retailers). It's an extension of their philosophy of having simple, small product lines. Customers know that no matter where they get it from, it's the same product and the same price. If you can buy without needing finance I always recommend buying from the online Apple Store. You get the best customer service that way—straight from Apple without retailers getting in the way.

That said I managed to get a replacement battery from Apple after a LOT of begging (and a bit of crying) about an "out-of-warranty" MacBook. The CSR felt so guilty after denying me that he called me back to say they'd replace it. |

I lie a little. At places like Noel Leeming you MAY be able to get a tiny discount on ACCESSORIES (but typically never the iPad) but ONLY if you strike the right salesperson on the right day AND you buy an over-priced unnecessary Extended Warranty.
New laws are set down to give you a 7 day cooling off period for Extended Warranties. I might buy a few just so that I can go in and get them refunded a few days later for fun. Edit: How long to repaint? The "estimated" delivery via Apple online is 1-2 weeks so order in advance Not sure what it will be instore. |

Tried any of the divx capable media players yet?
Im a bit torn between 2 at the moment. Goodplayer and Avplayerhd. From what I have read goodplayer offers crazy file options and has really good quality image but avplayer just got updated a day or two back for ipad 2 and can handle 720p video in several formats including mkv and divx. I Dont often have hi res files but it is nice to know that the option is there. At $4 I suppose either will do the job. Can always switch in the future should I ever come across a problem. |

Well I got my iPad 2 yesterday when I got home from work. Sure is nice to use but if you are like me and gets lots of apps, books etc ready then its ends up being overwhelming in the sense you just want to try a bit of everything.
That was until I started playing gof2 and an hour went missing. Not sure that I like avplayerhd as far as quality goes so far. The avg 700mb file looks worse than my HDTV. I tried a 350mb movie on default player and it looks almost the same. I'll have to check if there are some settings to play with. I guess if there is something you really want to watch on the go without converting then it's fine. |

My folks just got an iPad 2 and I made them download Garageband so I could play with it. It's incredible! Just goes to show you how powerful this breed of tablet computing can be with good app development behind it.
You can't expect anything close to this for Android tablets because Google sure isn't going to do it. |

That is one of the things that made me get an ipad rather than android tablet. While there are things missing like a good notification system, the experience is very polished with what you get. Some of the apps like flipboard, ibooks offer really great ui's/experience that are smooth with nice little touches that make them stand out quality wise.
Online pictures/video don't do games justice on ipad. Which is kinda weird considering ps3 games etc all look way better in photos of your tv. Galaxy on fire 2 looks good in motion. |

Waxer - ZITE
It's killer. And I don't mean that lightly. I've used Flipboard about twice and gave up on it. Zite is a "personalised magazine". It tries to guess what YOU want to read based on what you've read in the past and draws from RSS feeds etc. to present you stories. When you read, you can (optionally) "like" or "dislike" an article, which will help the algorithm get it better next time you refresh. It's bloody brilliant - and free. |

I grabbed zite and will give it a try over the next few days.
I take back what I said about avplayerhd. Must have just been a hickup or something. I went back to it and the fuzziness is gone. I will try it on my breaks at work and catch up on some shows. To much stuff/games that I want. Need to play some of the ones I have first. Im more used to jumping on first like with consoles and getting stuff as it comes out. Gets trickier when you have to actually decide between want you can get. But thats a good thing. |

My dad got one last week from Dick Smith when they got some stock in. Call around and keep checking because it'll be a long while until you can expect to find one on the shelf any time you walk in.
