I’m not sure if Billy Ray is a protective father, the impression I get from the media is that he isn’t, but they probably don’t report on the mysterious disappearances of people that try to make moves on young Miley. So given that this might well be GaR’s last podcast before he makes an unannounced exit, you better enjoy it while you can.

It’s as if Sucker Punch has taken a few cinematic cues from Naughty Dog, in the first gameplay reveal of InFAMOUS 2 – explosions and collapsing buildings aplenty. A new face, a new voice, but this is still the same Cole-with-lightning-in-his-hands-MacGrath.
Strangely no sight of the ice powers that were hinted at in the E3 trailer. But if this video is any indication, InFAMOUS 2 is going to be a bigger and better sequel.

UPDATE: Four new videos added.
Valve are teasing some gameplay videos of Portal 2. Feast your eyes on the puzzly goodness after the break. With all new gadgets & chemicals, it’s enough to make your head spin.
In the first video meet your new British friend, Wheatley. He doesn’t sound as robotic as GLaDOS and he’s a lot more charming. I guess technology has developed somewhat since you’ve been away.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 is of course the sequel to one of the best games available on the Wii, Super Mario Galaxy. After a perceived drought of quality titles for Wii, owners of the console have been looking forward to at last having something worthwhile playing arrive to the dust-collecting paperweights.

You may not have heard of Black Rock Studios before but they’ve been around a while, had a name change or two and have created a handful of racing games including 2008’s quad bike blast of fun, Pure. If you still don’t recognise the name and merely know of Split/Second from the demo that released earlier in the year, you will be excused for thinking they were the guys behind the Burnout series. In fact, it’s hard to ignore the similarities. Is that a bad thing or have Black Rock Studios stumbled upon their best idea yet?

War games. We revel in their bloody battles. Forget the whole videogame violence debacle, but what does war say about us as people? The classic war quotes shown in Modern Warfare tell us how pointless and extravagant war is, but that’s usually as far as the deep thought goes. I can’t help but feel simulations might be disrespectful to those in real turmoil. I don’t believe that war is the answer to solving the world’s problems, but there is something unexplainable about shooting virtual baddies into the dust. Though how many more times can we repeatedly do this, is yet another question.

Blur is an interesting game. It is a Bizarre (see what I did there) mix of Project Gotham Racing and Mario Kart. That is to say it is an arcade racer that has you driving real cars in real locations while firing some very fantastical weapons at anything else that moves.

I’ve been out of touch with new releases recently but undoubtedly you all still have plenty of titles to tide you over, and with E3 having come and gone you probably have a nice little list put aside in .txt form somewhere of all the games coming out in the next 12 months that interest you, or is that just me? Either way let ButtonMasher tempt your wallet a little further with what is scheduled to hit our shores this week.
360:
- SBK X Superbike World Championship
- Transformers: War for Cybertron
- Warriors: Legends of Troy (possibly delayed)
- World of Outlaws: Sprintcars
